Deborah Martin & Jill Haley Release Rendering Time – The Final Chapter in a Poetic Ambient Trilogy
Hilton Entertainment is proud to spotlight visionary ambient artists Deborah Martin and Jill Haley as they prepare to release their highly anticipated new album, Rendering Time. Arriving September 26th on Spotted Peccary Music, this marks the third and final chapter in their groundbreaking trilogy, following The Silence of Grace (2021) and Into the Quiet (2023). The first single, “Fitful Dreams,” is available now.
A Meditation on Time and Existence
At its heart, Rendering Time is more than music — it is a meditation on what it means to exist across seasons, cycles, and generations. “This project is about time, yet no time, and its relevance in our world; how it relates to each of us, especially when it comes to the bigger picture of our existence,” reflects Martin.
The duo seamlessly blends classical acoustic instruments with electronic textures, creating soundscapes that move between the ethereal and the earthly. The album’s ten compositions capture the arc of life itself, a celebration of the natural world and all it calls into being.
The Sound of Rendering Time
Listeners will hear Jill Haley’s evocative performances on oboe, English horn, black cedar flute, and piano, paired with Deborah Martin’s artistry on handpan drum, guitar, synths, and world percussion. Together, they conjure a sound both organic and otherworldly — an ambient journey that feels timeless yet deeply personal.

“Cenote” – inspired by sacred waters, full of depth and stillness.
“Soaring” – a flight through open skies and imagination.
“Sunlight and Starlight” – a luminous close to the trilogy.
A Trilogy Complete
“Time becomes more precious as we age,” Haley notes. “When I think of rendering, I think of completing a project: the final step. This is the third recording of a three-album project which started with a focal point of nature, and has evolved into more inclusive themes.”
For Martin, the title carried a personal revelation: “As I worked on converting midi to audio, the word ‘render’ struck me as a metaphor for life. We are born, we live, we die — and in that process, we are constantly being rendered into new forms of existence.”

Deborah Martin – An award-winning Washington-based composer and producer, Martin has inspired listeners for over 30 years with her ambient electronic sensibilities.
